چکیده

“It is of basic importance to understand the hereditary mechanisms that function in the perpetuation of the existing natural races and species and in the evolution of new ones, but investigations in this field are difficult and have largely been neglected. The commonly used laboratory organisms are inadequate to resolve differences that characterize natural biological entities found in the wild”

Molecular Identification of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex in Formalin-Fixed, Paraffin-Embedded Tissue Blocks of Extra Pulmonary Speciemens using Genomics Extraction

Background: Tuberculosis has been detected in some extra pulmonary ecological niches. Although extra pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) is less frequent than Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB), its incidence has increased worldwide. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of EPTB and MDR-EXPT in Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue blocks among different samples in Kerma...

Ecological genomics--changing perspectives on Darwin's basic concerns.

Ecological Genomics is an interdisciplinary field that seeks to understand the genetic and physiological basis of species interactions for evolutionary inferences. At the 7th annual Ecological Genomics Symposium, November 13-15, 2009, members of the Ecological Genomics program at Kansas State University invited 13 speakers and 56 poster presentations.

Fantastic Beasts and How To Sequence Them: Ecological Genomics for Obscure Model Organisms.

The application of genomic approaches to 'obscure model organisms' (OMOs), meaning species with no prior genomic resources, enables increasingly sophisticated studies of the genomic basis of evolution, acclimatization, and adaptation in real ecological contexts. I consider here ecological questions that can be addressed using OMOs, and indicate optimal sequencing and data-handling solutions for...

Integration of molecular functions at the ecosystemic level: breakthroughs and future goals of environmental genomics and post-genomics

Environmental genomics and genome-wide expression approaches deal with large-scale sequence-based information obtained from environmental samples, at organismal, population or community levels. To date, environmental genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics are arguably the most powerful approaches to discover completely novel ecological functions and to link organismal capabilities, organism-e...

Poplar genome sequence: functional genomics in an ecologically dominant plant species.

In addition to their value for wood products, members of the genus Populus (poplars) provide a range of ecological services, including carbon sequestration, bioremediation, nutrient cycling, biofiltration and diverse habitats. They are also widely used model organisms for tree molecular biology and biotechnology. The sequencing of the poplar genome to an approximately 6x depth adds to a long li...
